CUADERNO👇
ART
Claude Monet (1840-1926) is the founder of Impressionism and one of the most
famous artists. He lived in Vetheuil from 1878 to 1881 where he painted around 150
paintings. Although Monet was principally a landscape painter, he often created still
life paintings. In his still lifes, he broke with the traditional Baroque style of using
a dark background. He was interested in depicting the effects of light and shadow.
Monet was passionate about painting outdoors. In the long winter months, he
would produce still life paintings or representations of the interior of his house. His
still life paintings were oblong (horizontal) because of the horizontal line of the table
where the objects were placed.
